What concerns do you have about your child or another member of your family?

Dr. Pegeen Cronin is a licensed clinical psychologist (license: PSY 16026) who specializes in diagnostic evaluations for individuals suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disability. Evaluations are consistent with best practice guidelines for identifying an autism spectrum diagnosis. Your concerns that might pertain to an autism spectrum diagnosis and thus require an autism evaluation include but are not limited to your child’s social abilities, “fitting-in,” relationships with peers and you, communication delays or inconsistencies, and day to day challenges. Because of the thoroughness of the autism evaluation, results might identify issues common in any number of diagnoses, not only autism, but depression, anxiety, inattention, or/and hyperactivity. A diagnostic evaluation teases apart these issues, provides answers to your questions and concerns, and gives direction on what is best for the individual, family, and providers. Dr. Cronin is also available for consultations, program evaluations, and advocacy. Assessments can be conducted throughout California, and offices for ongoing therapy are located in west Los Angeles (Westwood Blvd between Santa Monica Blvd and Olympic Blvd) and the west San Fernando Valley in Calabasas.

What are the fees for services?

It is best to contact Dr. Cronin directly for a cost estimate of services because each individual has different needs. Fees for comprehensive evaluations typically range between $3000-$4000, but are highly dependent on the evaluation needs of the individual and his/her age. What insurance plans are accepted?

Dr. Cronin does not accept insurance but will provide insurance billing codes that families can choose to submit to their insurance plans. Insurance codes are based on the type of evaluation, consultation, or treatment provided so it is best to contact Dr. Cronin to discuss services that will then determine the potential insurance billing codes.

Will my child get a definitive diagnosis even if it is not autism?

Dr. Cronin is trained and experienced in child development and differentiating diagnoses that might occur in childhood.

What will the written report say and is it confidential?

The written report will provide the assessment results and recommendations discussed with you, including discussion of your child’s strengths and challenges. Recommendations provided are specific to the individual and family. For example recommendations might include requesting specific interventions from the school district or the Regional Center (specific to California). In very young children this might include individualized structured teaching (e.g., discrete trial training), and as children get older this might include specific behavior modifications, communication strategies, and social skills training. The report remains confidential and your written permission must be provided for the report to be discussed or sent to anyone.
